The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Anger About Size Modifications

Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.

This online marketplace has altered its size classifications for women's and children's garments failing to inform all users about the change.

Online Platforms Reaction

Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.

Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.

It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size if necessary, which has left users frustrated.

Size Classification Updates

Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Member Stories

A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.

Required Changes

A different user, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated.

Platform Context

The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
