It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

That it took as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It is hard for their hitters to possess a record if never given the opportunity.

Finally, the result of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to deliver her newest gem.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

If this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was much more difficult to predict.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was dismissed her side required another 66 at one run per ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, should it happen, we are confident we can do it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this tournament want to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success following victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.
