Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the points battle, lying with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he rotated at Turn Four soon after starting.
The Japanese slid over the curbs on exit before spinning across the run-off area, and was fortunate to escape with just a minor contact of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn before the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran ended the session in 19th place, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
